Lego Friends Birthday

My nine year young daughter wished for a lego friends birthday this year. I thought why not, after all I am a fan of lego friends myself. All food items were made with special care to go with the lego theme, there were lego friends themed games as well. The girls had  a lot of fun eating the food and participating in the games. 

Lego cake


I followed a basic chocolate cake recipe to bake two rectangular shaped cakes. I assembled one cake over the other using chocolate icing between the two layers. Kitkat chocolate bars on the sides made it special. A ribbon tied all around held everything together nicely. 

Chocolate icing in between two layers of chocolate cake and the top layer got moist by a drizzle of caramel.
The cake was decorated as a beach - sand area and water area. The sand area was done with cookie crumbs. The water area was made by basic vanilla icing coloured blue by food colour (I used stabilized whipped cream).
I assembled the lego structures on top of the cake. The structures were made by the birthday girl. Something to keep them busy with!

Fruits & Vegetables


Grapes, celery and orange. I inserted a sticks to keep the grapes in one line. 

Lego crackers/cookies

Marshmallows  dipped in melted chocolate and then placed on top of cookies. The M&M was glued on top of the crackers the same way.

Ladybug wings

Making costumes for kids is fun, you can showcase your creative side. But at the same time it can get stressful for the parents. Here I will show you a very simple step by step process to make ladybug wings which you can do within half an hour or so. The only thing you might need is the right colour felt material and some of your time. Think about all the money and the time you will save going to a store and buying a costume which the kid will probably wear just for one day.   You need: 1. Red felt (about half meter) 2. Black felt (quarter meter) 3. Cardboard or hard paper (use cardboard boxes or cereal boxes) 4. Scissors 5. Glue 6. Red thread 7. One needle Steps: 1. Draw one circle on a cardboard or hard paper. You can use a large plate to trace the circle on the cardboard. Cut out the cardboard circle using the scissors.  2. Draw the same shape on the red felt.
